Taiwan's founding Prince Nezha temple

A small neighbourhood temple on the bank of the Love River in Kaohsiung, and the temple from which Prince Nezha first spread through Taiwan.

Hualong Temple stands at No. 1357, Hexi 1st Road, Gushan District, Kaohsiung, facing the Love River. The stretch of river nearby was the well-known "Longshui Harbour Pier" during the Kangxi era of the Qing dynasty, a landing place for bamboo rafts — this is where the "Longshui" in the temple's name comes from.

The principal deity is the Marshal of the Central Altar, also known as Prince Nezha. The statue was brought from Fujian by ancestors of the Lee family when they crossed to Taiwan in the late Ming dynasty, making this the founding Prince Nezha temple in Taiwan. Two of Kaohsiung's larger temples, Sanfeng Temple and Guangji Temple, both received their Nezha from here and return each year to pay respects.
